The bathroom in the presidential suite of the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I hotel

Contrasts in harmony

The assignment received by Coblonal was to renovate the bathroom of the presidential suite of the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I hotel in Barcelona, in accordance with the style of the complex and with the challenge of offering a qualitative leap in design and finishes.

To achieve this, we were clear from the beginning that the combination of a functional distribution with a correct selection of materials would be the right way to develop the interior design project. We decided to avoid the usual sequence: distribution-materials, and do it together. In this sense, the choice of large-format porcelain tiles with an appearance inspired by black Portoro and white Calacatta marble was decisive in fitting the distribution and solving the project. These pieces, supplied by Blau Acocsa, offer great resistance and versatility, especially suitable for this type of location and the beauty of natural stone.

In its concept and final appearance, it is a bath of contrasts in harmony. Between the straight lines and the curves drawn by the different profiles, between the stone and iron that materialize it, or between the black and white that cover the different volumes. A gala dress, with a certain oriental inspiration, delicately complemented by the golden elements of faucets and panels, and the silver effect of the mirrors.

The result of this interior design project is a space for self-care that combines luxury and simplicity on the same level.

We access the presidential bathroom through a curved, sliding door that maximizes the available space. As soon as you enter, the symmetrical confrontation of elements on the wide walls of the oval stands out. On the one hand, a large sink formed by a large-format porcelain countertop inspired by black Portoro marble in which two sinks of exclusive design are inserted, with Lino gold built-in taps under an extensive mirror that has a screen integrated by multimedia data flow and the brooch formed by a set of spherical hanging lights by Bocci. On the other hand, the bathtub is framed in the waters of the gold-white calacatta, which has an illuminated volume, offering a soft and warm atmosphere and a certain suspension effect. The bathtub has another multimedia screen at its feet for playing audiovisual content while enjoying a comfortable bath.

The rest of the elements are distributed on both sides of the bathtub. On the side closest to the access, there is a reserved space with a sliding door that houses the suspended WC and bidet. On the other side, we find a large built-in shower with gold taps. What stands out is the double relief formed by large pieces in the lower part and a mesh formed by small rectangular pieces arranged vertically in the upper part, both made of the same porcelain inspired by Calacatta Blanco Goldo marble.

To ensure maximum comfort, a pair of Antrax towel radiators run in front of the water area as another unique piece that enhances the whole. Coblonal has been in charge of the design and construction of the bathroom and service areas of the presidential suite in which we find contrasts in harmony with maximum performance and exclusivity.
